The DTC community GSI analysis system V2 consists the GSI source code,
support libraries, fixed files, and run scripts. To build the analysis system,
it is first necessary to build the WRF model. This is because the GSI
system uses the WRF I/O interfaces for its regional background I/O. Building both the WRF and
GSI codes can take a considerable amount of time. Therefore, for this
tutorial, both the WRF and GSI codes are provided pre-compiled on the
tutorial machines. You will just need to copy the tar file containing the
executables into your working directory. These executables should be used
for the tutorial. This will be further discussed below.
These tutorial exercises are designed to be run on the Linux workstations
provieded in COMET classroom. The source code and data files needed for
these exercises are provided, and available on an external directory.
If you want to experiment compiling GSI, directions for doing so are
provided at the end of the practical session. For all of the exercises,
please use the pre-compiled code to ensure that you get the most from these
practical sessions.
