Foreword

The Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model system has two dynamical cores:

1. The Advanced Research WRF (ARW) developed by NCAR/MMM

2. The Non-hydrostatic Mesoscale Model (NMM) developed by NOAA/NCEP (referred to in this document as WRF-NMM)

The WRF-NMM User’s Guide covers WRF-NMM specific information, as well as the common parts between the two dynamical cores of the WRF package.

This document is a first attempt to put together a comprehensive guide for users of the WRF-NMM Modeling System, Version 2.2.

The WRF-NMM User’s Guide will be continuously enhanced and updated.
