MET Online Tutorial for METv3.0

Welcome to the MET Online Tutorial

  • This tutorial has been designed for use with METv3.0 released in September 2010.
  • It describes step-by-step how to compile, configure, and run MET.
  • We recommend that you work through this tutorial before you try to run MET on your own.

Using the MET Online Tutorial

Throughout this tutorial, the following conventions are used:
  • Bold font is used for directory and filenames and occasionally to simply indicate emphasis.
  • Bold and italic font is used for things to be typed on the command line, configurable items, and executable names.

    arrow Use the forward arrow at the bottom of each page to continue.

    arrow Use the backward arrow to return to the previous page.

    arrow Look for tips and hints.

arrow Throughout this tutorial, you will have to type several commands on the command line and edit settings in several files. Those commands are displayed in this tutorial in such a way that it is easy to copy and paste them directly from the webpage. You are encouraged to do so to avoid typing mistakes and speed your progress through the tutorial.
